What another killer day of racing, and racer turnout!!!!

Thanks everyone for coming out today!!!!!

Just like last Sunday, temperature was hot, a little humid, a lot of sun, and of course the track would dry up within one race, but overall, the track held together great once again.

Thanks to Chad, Janelle, Russ, and everyone else that help out with all the “little” things throughout the day.  Jeremy and Kevin running a couple races today for us, all the volunteer marshaling when we needed it from a whole lot of people especially super Mario, and Eric……..  Just an overwhelming support for the program today!!!!

Marshaling was very slow today, but I am going to mark that up to the heat.  I know you guys do not want to stand out in the blazing sun during the races, but it is a part of RC racing, and it is something that we need to work on as always.  But, overall, it was not that awful bad.  There are racers that will not volunteer when we need someone.  I get it.  You marshaled for when you needed to, and that should be enough.  But, keep in mind some of the racers that do volunteer all the time.

Makintraxx has always been about “playing fair” to everyone.  Whether it is novice drivers, or 1/8th scale nitro truggy racers.  We can not, and will not “cater” to ourselves, or individuals.  (I will say that we do cater to the novice drivers a little more……..).  Spending the day at the track is about having fun with our friends and family.  Every racer that comes out ends up becoming part of our family, and we all hold deep respect to each other.  Let’s try to keep that philosophy when it comes to marshaling please.

With the heat and competition sometimes comes a little more “aggressiveness” during the races.  It happens.  We all want to win.  We all have great days, and bad racing days.  But when we do have those bad racing days, we sometimes have to change our racing style from always trying to push it to the front of the pack, to just having some good fun at the track.  It’s a lot easier said than done.

This year, we have a lot of new racers coming out and supporting the track.  Which is totally awesome!!!!!  But with that, some of us racers that have been racing together for a long time, need to learn the new drivers, driving styles.  It all takes time for us to mold together to have some great clean racing.  I was the culprit of one of these aggressive racing styles myself today.  I have never raced with Justin S. before, and coming up to the fish bowl in 2wd short course, I was right on his back bumper (like I always am with everyone…. :-)….), and as we came into the fishbowl, Justin apparently likes to brake a lot harder than I do, and I did not expect that, and I railed it big time.  It was my fault for spinning him out, and I apologized…… I’m sure it looks as though I tried to take him out in the corner.  But, the next time I race with Justin S., and come into this same situation, I will know how he corners a little better, and will learn to back off coming into the corners with him.  Justin was a very clean racer today, and I took him out.  Sorry once again for that Justin.

Okay, enough with the therapist talk!!!!!  But, I will stress that we need to maintain the fun atmosphere that we are great at providing at the track.  Many racers come out just to get away from personal issues they may have going on in their lives, and we want to make sure we provide that therapy avenue for them.

Had a couple mixed races today just to save on track time since it was so hot out.  Thanks again everyone for allowing us to do that.  I know it is kind of odd to be racing on the same track with different styles of vehicles, but it does help save time, and marshaling is usually a lot better.  Regardless, it’s the same track conditions for everyone in your race, so the competition evens itself out.

Was great to see a couple nitro stadiums, and 4wd 10th scale buggies out at the track today.  Thanks for bringing them out!!!!

In 2wd Short Course, Conner Phipps and David Moore took the C Main top two positions, and of course the bumps to the B Main.  In the B Main, Justin Sczepczenski and Adam Vilinsky took first and second, and got to go to the A Main where Brian Davin took the A Main win!!!!!!  Just kidding.  I have been getting a whole lot closer though thanks to this awesome ride I have!!!!…….  Russell Stratton took the win, and was on rails the entire race.  Some great racing in the A Main.  A lot of back and forth position changes, and overall just a great race.  Another awesome A Main win for Russ!!!!

In 2wd Buggy, Eric White threw it down in the A Main, and took the win.  That dude was freaking smooth.  We tried to get into his head during the race, but he apparently has learned how to block us out.  Awesome win Eric!!!!  Another great race today!!!!

(9) 4wd Short Courses out today which provided some great racing.  These dudes where tearing it up!!!!  Dan Bach took the A Main win!!! Some great, tight competition throughout the entire race with everyone fighting for positions.  Awesome.

In Ebuggy, although we split the qualifiers up into two separate heats, we decided to run everyone together in the main.  And yes, it was a little chaotic, but was awesome to watch, and I’m sure even more awesome to race with (12) Ebuggies at once.  Rick Redmin showed up at the track, and man is he just as fast, if not faster than the last time I saw him run.  Dang.  Siller, Bach’s, Williams, Redmin, Voelkle, Bowman, Johnson, etc…….  There are very few times you get to witness the awesome driving skills all of these guys bring out to the track for just a normal Sunday club racing day.  And today was just freaking awesome to see it!!!!  Dan Bach lead the entire race up until the final lap, where Keven Siller was able to squeak by him for the A Main win!!!!!   Just awesome to see these guys flying around the track!!!!

And then we got to witness it again in Etruggy!!!!  Everyone just flying around the track.  Keven Siller ended up with the A Main win!!!!  Just awesome everyone!!!!!

Thanks to Erik Voelkle for the awesome ball diff work station/phone holder.  Man, it is so cool, and what an idea to come up with!!!!!  Check out his products at www.vikingdesignworks.com.  so cool!!!!

Thanks again everyone for coming out today, and I hope you all had fun!!!
